Costs
Uniforms: Read our page on Uniforms. Once a boy becomes a troop member, we recommend (but don't require, and we do offer sponsorships) getting a shirt and a hat based on their trail. Each trail has three types of uniforms, ranging from cotton t-shirts to moisture-wicking polos and button-up ceremony shirts. If your boy is a Navigator (middle school) or an Adventurer (high school), the formal button-up ceremony shirts are required for the meetings, and the t-shirts can be worn for informal gatherings. For example: the Woodlands trail (elementary boys): Shirt (Trail Life Shop Link), Hat (Trail Life Shop Link), or Second Hat option (Trail Life Shop Link). Our Troop does not have items for resale, you would purchase directly from the Trail Life Store. To save on shipping, consider shopping with a friend, to split the shipping costs. It is a flat shipping rate.
Hit the Trail! Costs: These outings vary in cost, and at times, we secure group rates to reduce costs. Some events may be required for advancements, while others are for pure enjoyment. The outings include field trips, hikes, service projects, and campouts. Please note that the troop dues do not cover these "Hit The Trail!" activities.
There are two required dues in our Trail Life troop:
Trail Life USA Dues: This annual fee is paid when you sign up on traillifeconnect.com. The cost per boy is $42.27 per year. It allows your son to access Trail Life Connect, where we can track attendance and advancements. Annual membership fees also provides for operations of the Home Office, Trail Life Connect, and insurance for our events. If your family relocates, your son's information moves with him, making it easy to continue in the program. Please note that if Trail Life USA dues are not paid, we lose the ability to track advancements and attendance - therefore what awards to receive - and you may not receive emails from the troop.
Troop Dues: Troop dues are paid directly to our treasurer and are used to purchase teaching supplies, campout necessities, lanyards, and awards, and the annual assessment our troop pays to the national office. The cost is $55 per semester, or $105 per year. With the above prices and payments, we are trying to encourage parents to pay either per semester or once a year. It makes tracking less complicated and helps parents commit their child for at least a semester. There is a $10 yearly discount for each additional boy.
Handbook: The Navigators and Adventurers rely heavily on the handbook in order to track their progress through the program.
Optional Registered Adult Dues: If you decide to become a Registered Adult, there is a separate membership fee of $38 which pays for the additional background check and Child Safety Youth Protection training. By becoming a Registered Adult, you will be counted as part of our two-deep adult policy and will be able to take on leadership roles in our Troop.
